A Different Hero.

My friends always comment in my weird taste for women and wild imagination. I can't help it, I enjoy stretching reality and trying new things. For class, I was asked to form a "Anti-hero" or something different. Once again, my wild imagination not only help create an interesting character but a very rich storyline.

Flip a Coin
By Kevin Campbell

Scenario
207X, and young proffesional named Nick works for a massive corporation, Deabth. Deabth is a corporation on the underworld and it focuses on killing human beings. Deabth imposes death with disease, natural disasters, or random dangerous events. By imposing death on human beings, Deabth can control the population of the world and keep it at reasonable levels. The company was formed in the early 1900's but is now corrupt and has more power than the known heaven and hell.

Plot
Nick is asked by the Execution Team of the corporation to rebuild the annihilation structure of the corporation. For years, Deabth's system chose random humans to die but was deemed archaic and not very prosperous to the human population. Nick shows offs his new plan, called Opposites. Every time a being is chosen to die, through a heavy algorithm, Deabth must make someone else's life happy on Earth.
The veterans of the Execution Team were a bit unsettled with the idea but the leader of the team, Micky, convinced everyone to let Nick show off his skills in the "real world".
Micky asks Nick to "execute" this idea himself and show results. Micky must go to the real world and meet the person who will be executed. The unfortunate being, Kevin, has to die. But before he does, Nick must meet Kevin and ask him to make someone happy. Along the way, Nick reveals the unsettling world of Deabth and Kevin is, ironically, convinced is real. By seeing Kevin's reaction and observing the real world, Nick and Kevin decide to battle Deabth and desist its operation by allying with other underground gods who had strong corrupt ties to the corporation. Other employees of Deabth knew of the corrupt bargains but never spoke up as they were afraid of losing their job and losing their dead but yet alive consciousness.

Character
Nick is one of the youngest proffesional inside Deabth. He has no previous work history, is deceased, single, and feels intimidated by the workload the corporation gives him. He does his job very well, but unlike the rest he is kind and empathetic (which can be considered a weakness). Nick remembers his childhood clearly but can never speak to his family since he is dead. He has no super powers and is not very smart with women. Kevin fills in the gaps of his character with advice and cheers him with jokes.

  1. Wow I really like your story Kevin. I would have never thought up a creative plot like that. The idea of an underworld corporation that controls the population of earth is quite creepy but makes for a interesting story. If you ever find the time you should write the rest of the story because I know that you have me intrigued and wanting to read more.

  2. Thanks Richard. I actually came up with this story back in February but never really sat down and wrote it. I've been contemplating the idea of actually making this a book or a play script. I think I will, since I will have a lot of time this summer.
